- Regular inspections of the workplace are designed to identify hazards, including those in work processes to control and maintain a safe working environment.
- Inspections should be carried out on a regular basis and form part of the documentary evidence to show legislative standards are being met and maintained.
- Everyone in the workplace should make sure that they have a safe work station and to ensure a safe working environment for themselves and others. Is your chair suitable for you, is your desk at the right height for you to work. Look out for trip hazards and spills. Ink's and chemicals may be used in many areas. Is your computer screen at the right height and is it to bright or to dark. Health and safety officer should have the final say if it's safe to work.
- All workers have the right to work in a safe and healthy environment, consistent with the occupational health safety act. All workers should carry out safe operating procedures.
- Accidents and incidents must be reported and investigated, proper actions should be made to ensure that it does not happen again.
- Regular inspections of the workplace need to be carried out to ensure a safe environment, a safe work place is a happy workplace.
- Workplace Hazards to manage:
- Repetitive strain injury.
- Noise.
- Hazardous substances.
- Fire.
- Electricity.
- Slips, Trips and Falls.
- Depression – Everyone is not always happy.
- Make note of emergency numbers.
- Be familiar with evacuation procedures and muster points, make note of your nearest fire exit
- DO NOT enter building if there is a fire.
- Eye strain from computer monitors. (take regular breaks)
